7 Day Diet
7 Days to a Better You
The7-Day Diet allows you certain specific food on fixed days and certain people probably enjoy the indulgence initially. The diet claims to detoxify the body and lead to weight loss. Some claim to lose up to 14 pounds in the week! You are allowed six glasses of water each day.
Begin on a Monday and on the first day of this diet, you can eat all the fruit you desire, with the exception of bananas. The next day you can only eat vegetables including vegetable soup, salads and boiled veggies. Again there is no limit set on the quantity you can eat. Wednesday is a combination of the first two days and you can have both fruits and vegetables. Day 4 is Thursday and you have to restrict to 5 bananas and 5 glasses of milk. Many people cannot drink that much milk. It is the first day you have been allowed any protein!
Friday is a big change with lean meat or fish and vegetables. You can have up to 4 portions of 4 ounces each of chicken or fish. Vegetarians can have 4 red tomatoes and bean sprouts, which takes care of your protein and vitamins for the day. Saturday offers you a choice between beef and green vegetables at all meals or one big boiled potato with a pat of butter & soup made of sprouts. If you have made it this far you can have beef and greens on the last day, Sunday, once again or opt for baked or boiled vegetables and red rice.
It is obvious that the 7 Day Diet deals with extremes in terms of food and what is allowed. It is not very balanced and can lead to weakness and fatigue. It probably works only because you feel too stuffed with the ‘Food of the Day’. Again being a 7 Day Diet it is only for a week when, like most fad diets, it will show a drop in weight. Many people try it for a week every month for about six months, but it is not really a healthy thing to do on the long run. It typifies the old saying “Too much is too bad!” Weight loss is due to the fact that there is very little carbohydrate and no fat during these days. It is not likely that the weight loss will be permanent.
