High Fiber Diet
High fiber diet as the term indicates is a diet plan that includes foods that are rich in fiber or dietary fiber. Dietary fibers - cellulose, polysaccharides, hemicellulose, gums, mucilages, pectins, and lignins are indigestible, but it plays a major role in clearing the intestinal system. According to some research studies, dietary fibers are also found to be very effective in preventing ulcers and cancers occurring in the digestive tract, heart ailments, and in checking type II diabetes.
High fiber diet is less restrictive in its form as it does not suggest removing any particular victual from one's normal diet, but it indeed stresses on the importance of maintaining an overall balance in the food consumption and the need to select those food items that have a higher concentration of dietary fiber in it.
An average high fiber diet must include lots of whole grain foods such as bread and cereals, alongside fresh vegetables and fruits. Juices wont serve the purpose as most of the fiber content will be removed by then. Peanuts, walnuts, psyllium seeds, rye crisp crackers, meat, milk and diary products, and popcorn are some other fiber rich food items. Victuals made with processed grains like white flour must be avoided as it contains very less fiber content. Finally, while on diet, make sure that you drink lots of water, more than 8 glasses a day. Requisite fluid nourishment is very crucial for ensuring good results. |
