United Kingdom
No sooner had F M Alexander devised his now famous Alexander Technique in the last decade of 1800s, its name and fame spread to all parts of Europe and then to other corners of the world. One of the main reasons for its popularity in far away countries is attributed to the British, who at that time was the biggest empire in the world, with its colonies stretching to all corners of the globe. In fact, one of the first professional societies to train and certify instructors was formed in UK.
Now, in the UK, there are many societies or its affiliates training aspiring students who wish to become expert Alexander technique instructors. Such societies also publish the list of the qualified teachers enrolled under them so that for a common man out in the streets, finding a particular teacher residing near his/her place is as simple a task as finding a victual from a restaurant menu.
As it is observed, majority of the teachers in UK teaching Alexander technique belongs to either the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (STAT) and Alexander Technique International (ATI). Hence, every search for an Alexander technique teacher/instructor must ideally start from here. |
